    (IANS)

Croatian Robert Rubcic has been named as the chief coach of Bangladesh's national football team for the Asian Games to be held in November.

The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) confirmed his appointment Thursday saying that he would also be involved in setting up a national football academy.

Rubcic would coach the team for the Olympic pre-qualifiers, the AFC Challenge Cup and the FIFA World Cup pre-qualifiers.

His one-year deal is worth $50,000, besides accommodation, transport, food and other facilities. The 46-year old Croatian will be Bangladesh's 14th foreign coach, The Daily Star said Friday.

He follows in the footsteps of Serbian Zoran Djordjevic who left in February after disagreeing to a contract extension with the BFF.
